- Monday June 2 Johan Åkerström reporting from Islamabad: "Stefan went to the Brittish Gas Company to fill and test the oxygen tanks. Other members of the expedition loaded the equipement on to the buss, since flights to Skardu where sold-out. We went to the Ministry of Tourism to recieve our climbing permits, we were also appointed a liaison officer by the name Abbas. We also visited the Foregin Registration Office where we recieved our permit to be in Pakistan for more than 30 days. During the afternoon we visited the Taxila which is a historic place that Buddha had once wandered by. Following the turist attractions Stefan joined up with us again with the oxygen, there after the 24 hour trip to Sakrdu started. Following a highway known for its bandits we stoped for the night in Shilas to catch a couple of hours of sleep". |
