- Friday June 20 Johan Åkerström reporting: Surprising avalanche Place: Gasherbrum basecamp "We set off at 1.00 am towards the dump place 1 (between basecamp and C1) which we emptied at 5.00 am. We then continued on the right side of the glacier towards dump place 2 and then on towards C1. A couple of 100 m from dump place 2 we were surpriced by an avalanche that we barily ran away from. Following the avalanche we walked for about 3 hours when we meet David and Martin (from the Brittish Exped.) who had collapsed. Florin was exhausted and stayed with Martin. Johan, Magnus and David made an attempt to find a place for C1 without result. Return to the rest. We set up tents, rested, eat and slept. Florin has had alot of problems with the higher elevations." |
