Log-book - Monday June 23

Johan Åkerström reporting: Resting day and preparations

Place: Gasherbrum basecamp, apx. 5 150 m. above sea level

"Today we had a long awaited day of rest, and we got to take a nice shower ! Tonight we are going to carry the rest of the equipement up to C1, 5950 m., there we will set up the tent for C1 and other preparations for C1. From C1 we will then begin to work our way up to C2 at about 6 200 m. We will leave at about 12.15 am.. We will leave at about midnight and expect to be back on Thursday.

Otherwise everything is alright, sunny weather and about 0 C (32 F). I was operated on by Stefan, a remarkable abscess on my forehead which caused an uneasy feeling. The operation went as planned and was a success.I feel fine !

C3 - >7000 m, C4 - 7100 - 7300 m
